EdgeX Foundry Latest Release
Major Release Themes
This latest major update of the open-source project, lead by IOTech, strengthens industrial edge deployments with enhanced security, scalability, and open-source integrity. Key new capabilities include:
- PostgreSQL as the default database to enhance reliability, backup, and recovery
- Time-Based Scheduling to enable precise, time-driven execution of edge processes
- Core-Keeper replaces Consul as the EdgeX configuration and registry service
- OpenBao replaces Vault as the EdgeX secret store
- New Python API to expand accessibility for developers, unlocking new AI and automation use cases
- MQTT replaces Redis PubSub as the EdgeX message bus
