Job Description

The Team Lead will oversee a team of Software Engineers focusing on people management and software delivery. Team Leads are responsible for the line management of their engineering team, including assisting with hiring and training of staff and delegating work assignments. The Team Lead will work alongside stakeholders (Technical Leads, Product Managers) to manage their teams’ workload effectively.

As a Team Lead you will be required to evaluate team work processes, follow best practises and implement changes to streamline operations. A great team lead thinks ahead, anticipates risks, and addresses them before they cause a problem for the team. The team lead is to be based in Edinburgh.

Job Responsibilities

• Be the main point of contact and line manager for our Edinburgh based engineering team
• Motivate, inspire and support your team to achieve their best performance
• Collaborate with stakeholders (Technical Lead, Product Management, Technical Director) to coordinate cross-functional product delivery issues
• Delegate tasks effectively, aligning work assignments with team members skills and development goals
• Contribute to the development of IOTech services, expertise and quality processes
• Set direction for team, making sure everyone understands and follows major technical decisions
• Champion and implement industry best practises and development standards
• Act as interface between the development team and product management
• Work to broaden the abilities of your team by providing performance management reviews and timely feedback whilst encouraging best development practise

Skills Knowledge and Experience

• Strong Background in Agile methodologies (preferably Scrum)
• Strong people management and leadership skills
• Highly experienced as a professional software developer
• A great problem solver, planner and logical thinker
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated, reliable and collaborative
• Strong analytical skills
• Adaptable to changing and varied work settings and new technologies
• Ability to motivate and develop team talent
