Google Cloud, Edge Builder®, and others highlight a strong year for IOTech
The Edge Software company delivers impressive achievements in 2021
Edinburgh, UK (20th December 2021) – IOTech, the edge software company, enjoyed a successful year of growth in customers and partnerships, a new product launch, and advances in its technology in 2021. Highlights for the years included the release of its Edge Builder edge management solution and a number of high-profile partnerships, including those with Microsoft, Google Cloud, and several other companies.

Products
Chief among IOTech’s 2021 accomplishments was the May launch of Edge Builder, an end-to-end management solution for edge software systems. Edge Builder provides a comprehensive, flexible, open solution that simplifies and automates the management of edge systems at scale.
During the product’s development phase, IOTech worked extensively with partners and prospective customers to help ensure it meets industry needs. Edge Builder provides complete lifecycle management for edge nodes and their applications.
Partnerships
IOTech expanded its partnership with Google Cloud during 2021, offering industrial users smart integrated edge-cloud solutions at scale.
“This important collaboration will help reduce some of the challenges of industrial IoT deployments, such as OT and IT integration,” Steele said. “The integrated edge-cloud solution allows for fast deployments – reduced time to value – and there’s no need for coding skills.”
In July IOTech announced a partnership with PMY Group aimed at integrating the company’s Smart Operating Platform with IOTech’s edge software solutions. The partnership led to a further collaboration with Lotus Labs, a technology company focused on artificial intelligence and integrating vision technology for the edge. The joint PMY, Lotus Labs, and IOTech solution has already been used successfully deployed in a number of Smart Venue projects around the world.
During 2021 IOTech has been involved in a number of collaborations relating to building management systems and recently agreed to partner with Building System Integrators, a company specializing in the design, development, and commissioning of building automation solutions. The two companies are working to increase equipment connectivity and edge processing capabilities.
Another partnership that IOTech is very excited about is with Concept Reply, the leading accelerator for IoT in Germany. IOTech teamed up with Concept Reply this year to integrate Edge Xpert, Edge Xr,t and Edge Builder, into their IIoT solutions that will be used to support a range of different Industrial IoT use cases.
“It’s been a busy year for IOTech partnerships and we welcome more opportunities to interact with key players in the industry,” Steele said. “In each of these cases, it’s made both us and our collaborator stronger, while providing users with greater functionality. That’s a win for everybody.”
Technology Advancements
In March 2021, IOTech announced the availability of its Edge Xrt edge software platform for Microsoft Azure Sphere. Edge Xrt delivers real-time out-of-the-box device connectivity and edge intelligence for microcontroller units gateways and smart sensors at the IoT edge, reducing time-to-value from weeks to hours.
This year’s technology advancements also included a computer vision add-on for the Edge Xpert platform. The add-on enables users to run their AI algorithms and vision models at the edge. IOTech's also made available a number of commercial-grade OT connectors to enable EdgeX users to simplify the work required to connect and communicate with different devices at sensors at the IoT edge using Modbus, OPC UA, BACnet, REST, and more.
